Acetal In engineering terms, “acetal” can also refer to polyoxymethylene, an engineering plastic containing acetal groups. Advantages of use of acetal based plastics include:

  • They are chemically resistant
  • They have very low water absorption
  • They are resistant to hydrolysis by base

Material Highlights:

  • Low co-efficient of friction
  • Excellent wear and abrasion resistance properties
  • Low moisture absorption
  • Low centerline porosity
  • Easily fabricated and machined
  • Chemically resistance to neutral chemicals, hydrocarbons and solvents
  • High tensile strength
  • Continuous operating temperature of up to 185 degrees celcius
  • Available in natural and black
  • FDA, USDA, NSF, Canada AG and 3A-Dairy compliant

Applications:

  • Gears
  • Pulleys
  • Rollers
  • Bearings
  • Bushings
  • Cams
  • Medical Parts
  • Valves
  • Seals
